Profile
Sam is an active legal practitioner with 21 years of combined experience in both the public and private sectors. His areas of practice include Corporate and Investment Law, Real Estate Law, Succession and Inheritance Law, ICT Law, and Electricity Law. Sam routinely provides legal advisory and support services to clients in these practice areas. He also puts at their disposal his wealth of experience in dispute management and resolution when disputes arise from time to time. He is also versed in Administrative Law, Legal and Legislative Drafting.
Sam is the principal consultant at Efficiency Legal, which he started in February 2022. Until then, he was a partner at Ikeyi Shittu & Co. (formerly Ikeyi & Arifayan), a full-service commercial law firm with offices in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu, where he led the Labour and Employment Law and ICT (including Data Privacy Law) practices, while co-leading the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Prior to joining Ikeyi & Arifayan, Sam served as a one-term personal aide and special assistant to the Honourable Attorney-General of Enugu State from 2007 to 2011.
Sam received a Certificate of Excellence from the organizers of the Advisory Excellence Annual Awards in 2019 for Outstanding Performance in Litigation. He was recommended in Who’s Who Legal: Nigeria 2020 for his strong experience advising employers on employee discipline, engagement, and disengagement issues, as well as trade union-related matters. He was also recommended in Who’s Who Legal: Nigeria 2021 for his professional approach, timely advice, and excellent skill in dispute resolution.
Sam obtained an LL.B degree from the University of Nigeria in 2001 and an LL.M degree from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2010. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.
